Apple to set up iOS app design and development

After a visit to China earlier this week, Apple CEO Tim Cook landed in India on Tuesday night. Soon after Cook's arrival in the country, the company announced it was setting up a new iOS app design and development accelerator centre in Bengaluru. The centre will be operational in early 2017, and will provide support to local app developers to help them improve their iOS software

India is an important market for Apple, and the new iOS app design and development centre looks to be a part of the brand’s aggressive strategy to strengthen its foothold in the country. The company will reportedly also beopening Apple Stores in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, which are slated to open before the end of next year. Cook is expected to meet PM Narendra Modi during his first visit to India as Apple’s CEO, and is expected to announce the launch of Apple Stores in the country, given that Apple is close to getting DIPP approval to open single brand retail stores here.
Cook is also expected to announce a development centre for Apple's mapping services in Hyderabad when he visits the city during his trip. We will have more details in the coming days, so stay tuned.
